The Surveyor Project was born out of necessity for a budget-oriented, long flight-time drone for surveilling difficult to access patches of land. During the design phase of the project, we came across a hurdle: the lack of data on the material we used for 3D printing. This paper describes the design process that was followed for the drone before we were aware of structure strenght analysis, the structural strenght calculations that followed, and the study into the tensile strenght of PLA by manufacturer Plusivo.
