In the last years, the use of fossil fuels, especially oil and gas, has been accelerated leading to a global energy crisis. One way to ease the current global crisis would be to use renewable energy. Most of the current efforts have been aimed at developing new methods for electricity production. The ideal method sought is one that allows the production of electricity (from renewable sources) without net carbon dioxide emissions. In recent years, there has been a major interest in bio fuel cell technology that converts stored energy into chemical bonds from various compounds into electricity through catalytic reactions performed by microorganisms. Biofuel cell technologyis the newest approach in generating electricity-bioelectricity from bio mass using bacteria.
