In this study, a mechanism for the automatic adjustment of the height of a stepper was designed, analyzed and optimized. A top-down approach has been used, from general to particular, taking into account the need of the people to do exercises using a stepper and the their need to adjust the height. Starting with a simplified analysis of the working mechanism of a stepper, the study continued with a thorough study of the reliability of the proposed mechanism. The result was the development of a CAD model of the assembly, the establishment of the material used for the components, and the finite element analysis of the important parts of the mechanism. As a result of the corrections and modifications applied on the CAD model, the study was completed with the choice of the optimal technical solution.
