The paper presents a comparative study for three sandwich structures, namely, honeycomb core, inverted honeycomb core and kagome core made of PLA (polylactic acid) with two different ticknesses of the aluminium skins, 0.49 mm and 0.98 mm. The numerical results obtained after the finite element analysis (FEM) in ANSYS Workbench are compared in the linear region of the PLA for a precise prediction of the behaviour of every structure and for determining the impact of the face thickness on the rigidity of each structure.
