During the operation of offset printing machines, the ink system, the wetting system, the mechanical pressure of the rubber, the viscosity of the ink, the impurities collected on the paper surface have an abrasive influence on the printing forms, the resulting effect being the reduction of raster areas. This phenomenon influences the quality of the prints, influencing the color tones and the appearance of areas without a print, especially in light-colored areas. By successive measurements, under monitored environment conditions, it is established a curve of erosion for the print forms. The aim is to set a circulation threshold of print runs under certain conditions, where the quality of finished products is not affected by the wear of print forms.
