The mechanics of hybrid additively manufactured PETG and twill 2x2 carbon fiber double lap joints with 3M EC2216 adhesive under tensile loading are investigated using experimental and FEM models for stress and strain analysis. The classical approach on the mechanics of adhesive bonded joints focusses mainly on the failure of the adhesive layer, in this paper adherent geometries were modified and the effect of slot was investigated to evaluate the influence on the stress concentrations in the joint. The result show promising solutions for double lap joints optimization of strength and weight, with a significant peel and shear stresses reduction.
