Plastic pollution can also contaminate the air we breathe every day. When the plastic is discarded, its microparticles reach our sewer system and are then dispersed into the sea. However, a considerable percentage of the particles end up trapped in the sewer system, which is then reused to fertilize our farms and fields. After drying, those particles can be picked up by the wind and dispersed throughout our air system.
