The present paper presents a research study regarding the importance of plants in the vicinity of man and the way in which these can influence his/her mood and health condition. The subject under discussion is a relevant one, as shown in recent research with respect to indoor air quality. It has been concluded that people who spend a good share of their day in enclosed spaces expose themselves to air that is saturated with anthropogenic pollutants found in a larger proportion than outdoors. Despite this fact, it has been proved that plants can significantly contribute to the improvement of air quality, being capable of producing a wide variety of air ions, including negative ions
