Fire, one the four elements, has been an equalizer on Earth prior to the start of written history. It has various positive characteristics and contributions to the world (heat, energy, cathartic role, etc.) but it can be extremely dangerous when it gets out of control. The use of robotic systems in firefighting is being increasingly studied due to firefighters often and repeatedly being exposed to dangerous situations to save lives. A robotic system is a mechanical device that performs a given task, using sensors to perceive and adapt to its environment, computer programs to control the robot based on its surroundings and a human operator to supervise the robot’s activity and to intervene when necessary.
