The paper presents a global, effective and efficient method of studying thermal processes during the milling operation. The value and distribution of temperatures in the processing area are of great importance for certain materials but also for the durability of the tool. After obtaining the images with the help of the thermography camera, specialized programs were used, FLIR tools to process the images and to make graphics that symbolize the variation of the maximum temperature on the thermal image reached during the cutting process; and MATLAB to highlight heat dissipation. For the theoretical part of the examination, the time field distribution for the set consisting of the two materials milled in volume and sections was simulated in the ANSYS program. This method helps to understand what is happening inside the material, where other methods are not successful
