In the context of circular economy, the attention of design researchers and theorists has focused on a new type of design, namely timeless design, aimed to determine a prolonged use of products. Because the achievement of timeless design by the average practicing designer is difficult, some researchers have proposed as a methodological approach the design oriented towards neoretro, minimalism or exceptional. This paper presents the results of an experimental research meant to: a) identify which of the three types of design is associated by consumers with timeless character; b) prioritize the three types of design in terms of aesthetic impression and purchase intention; c) identify possible correlations between the term “timeless” and the terms “classical”, respectively “traditional”.
